With the Detroit River and the high rise buildings downtown as our backdrop, we started this beautiful family’s photo session on the river walk. None of us had actually been down to the river walk before, but we decided to take a little adventure and have some fun together! It was a beautiful sunny day and the perfect weather for playing in the oh-so-cool fountain. Sweet little Alex had a great time splashing around in the water and hanging out with her parents. We couldn’t have found a more fun or unique setting!
How beautiful is Alex??!! Yah. She’s perfect. Just ask her parents and her favorite photographer! Check out those adorable cowgirl b oohs!! Alex’s mommy had some great fashion sense and she put together the cutest outfit ever for this photo session. The dress is the perfect match for the boots and I LOVE the country feel of her attire against the modern city setting.
I’ve always been a firm believer that letting kids be themselves on a photo session is the absolute BEST way for them to relax and for me to be able to catch their true spirit. This little girl has so much spirit it almost can’t be contained! Letting her play in the water was the perfect anecdote to what may have been a disaster when she wasn’t to into wearing the boots anymore. She was having so much fun that she forgot all about taking those boots off!

The photo session moved indoors for some more fun, urban portraits. These marquee lights just scream for family and child portrait sessions do they not?!?!
This image is one of my favorites. Alex brought “bunny” her lovey with her for photos. I asked her to spin around with bunny under a tree on the river walk. The result… priceless. What a fabulous capture of the special relationship a child has with their most prized lovey.
